The world of physical theatre is a playground that offers the opportunity to merge a variety of art forms onstage, creating a full and rich theatrical experience. Pinch of Salt Theatre cross between: theatre, dance, circus, mime, puppetry, and mask, in the search for the most engaging way to tell a story.
Pinch of Salt Theatre members first met at St Mary’s University on the acclaimed MA in Physical Theatre (International Ensemble). Our work is based on the techniques and methodology of Jacques Lecoq and Philippe Gaulier acquired throughout the training programme.
Investigating clown, puppetry, mime and slapstick, we focus on devising original work that aspires to tell an engaging story.
-
We are an international ensemble, consisting of multi-cultural performers who share the vision of developing low tech – high impact theatre.
-
We strive to produce accessible theatre, that breaks cultural and linguist barriers.
-
We celebrate the audience’s presence as a collaborative player; the imaginative participation unlocks the story.
-
We are inspired by daily life experiences, searching for humour and playfulness in life’s twists and turns.
-
We draw on silent movies and cartoons to create a unique language of physical illusions, tricks, and object manipulation to craft onstage magic.
